Re: Evaporation fridge
You can use things like hessian as well. The concept has been around for a while. Widely used in Australia. We used to have water bags in thick hessian that were tied to the kangaroo (roo) bar on the front of the car. The evaporation cools the water as you drive. Sure most dry state people have seen these.
In fact it would be interesting to see if speeding up the air flow would have a measurable inpact on temps. Of course rate of evaporation would increase, increasing water use. It is also interesting in that it is exactly the same principle as the modern refridgerator, only non mechanincal and not as temperature controlled. I'd be interested to see if I could live with one of these. I might have a go. |
Re: Evaporation fridge
Prof. Steven Jones[the 911 truther]built an interesting refrigerator useing an old solid aluminum satellite dish he put a metal container at the focus point and pointed it at an empty spot in the night sky. Claimed to be able to freeze ice cubes in 45 degree temperatures. He has also built some great solar ovens.

Humidity retains specific heat, it doesn't "reflect" anything. If humidity condenses it radiats latent heat. |

Re: Evaporation fridge
This one looks pretty cool. Guy who built it posted it on another forum and said it would keep stuff at about 55F in 100F+ weather.
